As the semester winds down, I always think about what I have learned and I usually either like the class, or I did not like it. This class however, I have mixed feeling about. It really taught me some useful things. I really liked the cool tools. I liked seeing what other materials I could potentially use in my future classroom. I liked how I could use my own imagination and create an artifact showing what that cool tool produces. I also really liked YellowDig. I have never knew about this site until now, but it is a great way to see everyone's ideas and it really got students engaged. Learning about how technology can be integrated into the classroom was beneficial for me to learn about too. I believe that technology will eventually take over our worlds and also be brought into schools completely. So, learning about all the different ways and being taught the importance was a great touch, for me, on the semester.
However, I got a little overwhelmed with all of the work that we had to complete. There was a quiz, a blog post, readings and videos, a cool tool, and a major project to do in just one week, while taking other classes. I did think that the topics that were chosen for each week were great discussion topics, and I actually found myself liking more than a few of them. Having this class be totally online was good too. I liked how I could work on each weeks assignments on my own time. Everything on Springboard was easy to access and all materials were explained with great instruction.
I am pretty upset about the amount of hard work I dedicated into this class, and it is now no longer needed into the curriculum. I understand that things change, but I do not think it is fair, to have some students work hard in this class and then them be told that it wont count or that it was a waste of time. Now that it is over with, there is not much us students can do. This class had its good aspects that it did for me, and overall I learned a couple things that I will take away and use later on in my future classrooms.
All of the information that I have learned in this class has really influenced my teaching. I will bring technology into the classroom and teach children the proper way to use it and all of the things that the internet can provide. Using technology can enhance a students learning. Bringing a traditional approach into the classroom can be good for the students. It brings blended learning into the classroom and allows for students to learn at many different levels. Teachers need to encourage students to use technology to learn something new and teach them that it is okay to look up unknown things. Technology provides immediate feedback and lets students know what they are doing wrong so they can fix it. It can be more fun and interesting to students if they are engaged while learning instead of being bored and unfocused. All students now have the freedom to be the teacher to their peers with technology as an aid. It provides materials that can help students become better learners. Making the environment around the children blended and interactive can create a good experience for them. It is my goal to become the best teacher that I can be. It is not only my duty to teach future generations but to be a role model for how I want them to act. It is almost like raising children. Modeling ways you want them to perform in all aspects. I want to connect to all of my students and do nothing but encourage and support them. I want all of my students to succeed and one way that I can do that is by integrating technology into my classroom in order to help all my future students learn.
